Who is Kanakig?

Kanakig is just a name; in fact, it’s just my real name spelled backwards. It sounds Japanese but I assure you that it’s pure coincidence. I’m just an average 9-5 worker making enough to live on. I always loved kigurumi since I first saw pics of Sailormoon live shows back in 1992. It was not until 13 years later, back in 2005 that I would try my hand on making one. Since then, it has become a hobby of mine. Whenever I have spare time, I try to make something new. One thing for sure, my wife and I love to wear them. I know, I’m lucky!
Commissions
Back when I first started I wanted to become a full time kigurumi maker. Silly me! At a certain point, I realized that doing something for a living and doing something for the sake of personal satisfaction are totally different. Having said that, I’ve given up any thought of going commercial. Therefore, this is NOT A COMMERCIAL website. This website serves mostly to show off my passion for kigurumi cosplay. However, if you have something really interesting, let me know. I love new challenges.
Crazy Prices of Kigurumi Head
I know that that kigurumi makers charge outrageous prices. The process of creating a mask is a long and hard one. Raw materials alone are pretty expensive. As for myself, my biggest problem is the wig which accounts for 70% of the mask costs. To be honest, unlike most people think, I don’t make a lot of profit for each head. In fact, I make enough to sustain it as a hobby and use any profit made to bankroll new projects.
My Models
Yup, that’s one of the most frequently asked question. So who’s my model? Well, until recently, it has been my wife. She’s nice enough to withstand the heat for me to take pics. Now, she’s joined by her friend as well. For some reason, they both enjoy doing it. I do prefer keeping my suitactresses female. Oh yeah, please do not ask for unmasking pics, it’s against the kigurumi code.

You’re not from Japan, You SUCK!
Yeah I know I’m not from Japan. I’ve been getting lots of flak for this. My stuffs are considered “fake” even before you see it. So what if I’m not based in the land of the rising sun? When was the last time you bought a pair of Levi’s that’s “Made in USA”. I know that my work is not on par with some of the established kigurumi studios. Well, I try my best, and there’s always room for improvement. If you don’t like something, let me know and I’ll try to make it better.
